to wake, high up in a tree,
two small sheep, face-to-face
in all of the blue, under rainbow sun rays.
"what a thing"
"truly"
the weight of an arm
across my flat and rested torso,
heart beating beneath a piano key ribcage
[no black keys,
no sharps or flats]
the slow, gentle tempo
gradually filling the room with morningtime;
breaths, beats, birds, beauty.
eyes open with the smallest of sounds.
if you just listen hard enough,
you can hear them.
if only i could capture this moment,
put it in a snowglobe,
with glitter,
and have it on my shelf always.
i promise i'd keep that clear plastic world warm
all winter.
